Levels of a Food Web can be placed into an Energy Pyramid.
Directions: Using the button below you will access a video. This button will open up a new window. You will listen to the information provided in the video. Be sure to use all parts of the interactive video. In the video, you will view the following:
- Information about an Energy Pyramid, including how words you already know (carnivore, herbivore, producer) relate to an Energy Pyramid
- Information about three different environments (Forest, Prairie, Ocean) and the carnivores, herbivores, and producers that make up that environment
This will open in a new window. When you finish it, you may close the window or keep it open to help you
Did you see the connections?
Many parts of the food web are connected to the amount of energy that is provided. Energy travels from the producers up the food web to the consumers (the herbivores, omnivores, carnivores, and scavengers) and onto the decomposers. This energy transfer is necessary for organisms to survive until it is their time to die and pass on the energy they once held.
When you have completed this food web activity, please continue to the next page.
